It was late at night, probably around 11, when we got into
the bus and there he sat, across me. So it was awkward. No, actually.
“I really thought you’re Sabahan from the way you talk”
“No, I’m not. I’m local (terengganurian). It’s just that a
lot of the students from my class are from Borneo (Sabah and Sarawak).”
Then, we just talk, naturally. The awkwardness itself is
gone.
Daniel Croft. I’ll remember that name.
He’s a tough boy. Eh, guy lol not boy. He’s the oldest out
of his batch mates. He skips 2 years of his studies because of his illness. He
was diagnosed leukaemia. A young heart, a young guy, a young soul with a big
burden. So I asked, if he was okay with the illness he got.
“I was stressed at first. Because I’m so young, like “why
me”? Why it must’ve been me? I couldn’t believe it.”
I was told that he didn’t attend courses for two weeks and
that he had to change institution. Moving closer to his home (I swear I miss
home when writing this), it must’ve been hard. Had to leave memories behind
when the bonding just got real.
He was gentle. He was nice. He was sure motivating. He was
one to be called a big bro.
Since the illness is still at stage one, he often used
traditional medicine rather than doing chemo and taking hospital’s medicine.
Frequently, he experienced fever. He thought that nothing would heal his
illness. He could only pray. But thats what he thought.
“if a cancer cell can activate itself, then of course it can
deactivate” or so i said.
It’s mind-set that matters.
On my way growing up, I’ve seen many people suffer. Some
because of love while some because of mind-set. People learn as they grow and
so do i. it’s just a pity that they don’t take chances. How people dont work
hard to achieve happiness. Mind-set, of course is the first killing machine if
you don’t handle it with care. Try not to think or listen to people’s
judgement. It’s eating you slowly. Accept people as they are. Not pleased? Then
say it in front of em but be gentle. When voicing your heart, make sure to
think with your brain. Human have hearts.
And that “illness” i told ya, it’s not illness. It’s a gift.
It’s a reminder to live your life to heart’s content. It may be hard today, but
if you surpass it, i’m sure you’ll be way over the top of the world i don’t
even know what i’m writing. But i’m pretty sure you’ll have a long journey to
go. There’s people out there loves you more than you love yourself. There’s
your family and friends. There’s God :)
Daniel Croft,
I like those people i can joke around with and have so much
fun with.
